In 1974, The Lutgert Companies continued to set the standard for Gulf-front living in Park Shore with Gulfside, another landmark residence positioned directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Like its predecessors, Gulfside was conceived around the highest ideals of residential design and environmental planning, surrounded by waterways, spacious lawns, and more than six acres of private park.

Six unique floor plans, ranging from two to three bedroom residences, each appointed with all appliances and individual laundry facilities, ensured that no detail was overlooked. It was, as the original advertisement stated, "Naples finest luxurious living in a luxurious residence."

A year after Colony Gardens introduced Naples to the Lutgert vision, Horizon House rose to define an entirely new standard of condominium living in Park Shore. In 1971, at a time when Naples was still finding its identity, The Lutgert Companies was already shaping its skyline and its future.

Perched above the Gulf of Mexico and Venetian Bay, Horizon House presented what its original advertisement called "a new dimension in condominium luxury." Its architectural distinctiveness was matched only by the life it offered within, two club rooms, two saunas, a hobby room, a temperature-controlled pool, and direct, unobstructed access to both the beach and Venetian Bay.

Residences ranged from spacious two-bedroom, two-bath plans at 2,047 square feet to magnificent penthouse estates spanning 4,094 square feet, complete with built-in barbecues and wood-burning fireplaces. A vision of luxury that, by today's standards, was remarkably ahead of its time.

We are honored to share that Scott Lutgert has been named the 2026 Naples Daily News Outstanding Citizen of the Year, a recognition that reflects more than five decades of leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to Southwest Florida.

Since relocating to Naples in 1969, Scott has helped shape the region in ways that extend far beyond the developments that bear the Lutgert name. From pioneering Park Shore and landmark commercial destinations such as The Village on Venetian Bay and Mercato, to co-founding the Naples Winter Wine Festival, which has generated more than $125 million for children's programs in Collier County, his contributions to this community are immeasurable.

His leadership at Florida Gulf Coast University, his stewardship of NCH Healthcare System, and his decades of civic involvement speak to a man who has never separated professional excellence from personal responsibility.

Prelude, situated at the Venetian Village Shopping Center in Park Shore, is among the most personal expressions of Raymond L. Lutgert's remarkable second chapter. The same man who transformed 760 acres of undeveloped Florida coastline into one of Southwest Florida's most distinguished communities discovered, at the age of 65, that he had another story to tell, this one told not through land and architecture, but through sculpture.

What began with a single class at Appalachian State University in North Carolina became a body of work spanning more than 200 original pieces, many of them woven quietly into the very communities Raymond L. Lutgert spent his life creating. Prelude stands at the threshold of Venetian Village as both a welcome and a reflection, an opening note from a man whose vision never stopped reaching forward.

To encounter it is to understand that a legacy is never just one thing.
