🏡 **MY FIRST HOME. MY BIGGEST LESSON.**
Over 20 years ago, I purchased my very first home—and honestly, I made some BIG mistakes.
I was excited. I was pre-approved. I was picking out cabinets, flooring, paint colors, and all the fun things that come with a brand-new construction home. At the time, I thought I was making all the right decisions.
Looking back, I realize I was young and **unprepared**.
I didn't research interest rates.
I didn't compare different locations.
I didn't think about how life could change.
I didn't understand the difference between what I was approved for and what I could comfortably afford.
A few years later, life happened.
I had a subprime loan, and my interest rate eventually **surpassed 7%**. What once felt like a dream became increasingly difficult to manage. One of the hardest decisions I ever had to make was selling that home and downsizing.
That experience taught me something I'll never forget:
**The best home isn't always the biggest home.**
**The best home is the one that fits your life, your goals, and your budget.**
