In Tennessee you can view one of the state’s most stunning waterfalls from a swinging bridge you’ll cross to reach it! Foster Falls is a 60-foot drop tucked into the rugged South Cumberland area, where the water spills over a sandstone cliff into a deep pool below. The hike gives you several ways to enjoy it, from the overlook above the falls to the rocky trail that leads down near the creek and across the suspension bridge.
On warm days, the pool at the bottom is a favorite place to cool off when conditions are safe and the current is gentle. The surrounding bluffs also make Foster Falls one of the South’s well-known sport climbing spots, drawing climbers to its sandstone walls. Nearby, the Foster Falls campground offers primitive sites for tents or small trailers, making it easy to turn a quick waterfall stop into a longer outdoor getaway.
