The Leasing Journey is a 4-part virtual training series designed to strengthen leasing performance from preparation through closing and beyond.

In Part 3, we move through Steps 3–6 — The Tour: What to Be Ready For.

You’ll learn how to identify prospect needs with open-ended questions, lead the tour proactively while making the prospect feel in control, and handle objections as opportunities that move the sale forward and close it.

🌟 Member Monday: Susan Sherfield 🌟

With nearly 40 years in property management, Susan Sherfield has built a career centered on one thing—helping people grow. From frontline teams to senior leaders, her work has shaped how education and leadership development are delivered across the multifamily housing industry. 🤩

Susan most recently served as Vice President of Learning & Organizational Development for Mercy Housing, where she designed and led impactful education programs for both site employees and corporate leaders. Her influence spans decades of teaching, speaking, and coaching, including work as an adjunct faculty member and national conference presenter.

A longtime leader within the Greater Nashville Apartment Association, Susan has served as Past Chairman and remains deeply engaged in advancing the industry through service and education. She also holds a CPM designation through IREM and is a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. 🙌

And on a fun personal note, she has traveled to 86 countries (and counting), reflecting the same curiosity and passion she brings to her professional life. ✈️

On the last official Friday of spring, we're looking back on an incredible season of connection, service, and community. 🪴💐☀️

From Headshot Happy Hour to Community Service Day at the Village at Glencliff, our annual favorite Golf Tournament, and classes and luncheons featuring some of the brightest lights in our association, this was a spring to beat.

None of it would be possible without the members, partners, volunteers, and sponsors who continue to show up, engage, and make this community what it is. Your support, participation, and enthusiasm are what make GNAA such a special place to connect and grow. 🥳

As spring comes to a close, we can't wait to see what the next season brings, and we hope to make it our best summer yet!

While GNAA didn’t take home Affiliate of the Year this year, being named a finalist for the 2026 NAA Excellence Awards is an incredible honor, and one we’re deeply proud of.

To be recognized among affiliates doing such meaningful work across the country is something we don’t take lightly.

Congratulations to the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association for being named Affiliate of the Year and to all of the nominees. The innovation, leadership, and community happening across our industry is inspiring, and we’re grateful to be part of it.
