On this day, March 26, 2021, 2nd Avenue stood strong as the community came together for a benefit concert supporting the recovery after the Christmas Day bombing.

Music, resilience, and Nashville spirit filled the street once again, proving that 2nd Ave. isn’t just historic it’s unbreakable.

On Christmas Day 2020, Second Avenue was shattered but never silenced.

This Historic Avenue has always been more than brick and mortar.

It’s artists. Entrepreneurs. Neighbors. Stories layered over generations.

The damage was real… & so was the resolve.

Today, Second Avenue is coming back to life!

Blocks north of Church and south of Commerce are open.
And as of December 22, 2025 5 years later… the heart of the street is beating again.

Second Avenue is back.
Downtown is stronger for it.
The DISTRICT is moving forward restoring energy, connection, and momentum!

Come walk it. Drive it. Support it. Be part of the comeback!!

On Monday, the city will reopen a reimagined streetscape of Historic 2nd Avenue moving forward while acknowledging the lasting impact of the Christmas Day 2020 incident… 🌇🏙️

Mayor Freddie O’Connell and Metro councilmembers at the Metro Nashville Menorah Lighting, celebrating the second day of Hanukkah, at Public Square on Monday. The event was part celebration of the annual Jewish festival, complete with traditional songs and hot chocolate, and expression of grief for those killed in a mass shooting in Australia during the first night of Hanukkah 🕎.
The DISTRICT provided the hot chocolate, jelly donuts and traditional chocolate gelt for the children 🪙
