Once only available to “well-heeled investors,” private credit simply refers to lending that happens outside public markets – typically from non-financial institution lenders to private companies or projects. These investment types characteristically offer higher returns than most traditional investments due to their illiquidity and complexity.

Campus Fire Safety Month is a national fire-safety initiative that raises awareness about the threat of fires in both on- and off-campus housing, puts relevant information in the hands of students and parents, and helps students make living spaces as safe as possible from fires and associated hazards. Observed each September, the campaign delivers fire safety education and resources to students, families, and campus housing professionals.

-Stay alert and present. Do not cook if you’re tired or drowsy from medicine or alcohol.

-Stay in the kitchen when you are frying, boiling, grilling, or broiling food. Turn off the burner if you leave the kitchen for any reason.

-Keep flammables away from heat sources. Keep anything that can catch fire – oven mitts, wooden utensils, food packaging, towels, or curtains – away from your stovetop.

-If you live in a dormitory, make sure your sleeping room has a smoke alarm, or your dormitory suite has a smoke alarm in each living area as well as the sleeping room. For the best protection, all smoke alarms in the dormitory suite should be interconnected so that when one sounds, they all sound.

-Be prepared for emergencies. Always have a lid within reach to smother small grease fires. Turn off the burner. Do not move the pan.

As part of , we're reminding Tennesseans that having an inventory of your home's contents is crucial should you need to file an insurance claim after an emergency. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners's Home Inventory App makes it easier than ever to create and protect a record of your belongings - and it's free.

The App is available for download from the App Store or Google Play. The App gives consumers the ability to group belongings by category, scan barcodes for accuracy, upload and export photos with ease, find disaster preparation advice and review information about filing insurance claims.

Looking to volunteer and make a difference? The Tennessee State Fire Marshal's Office is proud to help raise awareness about an upcoming fire safety event with the Algood Fire Department and the Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross of Tennessee!

Volunteers will install free smoke alarmsat 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10. (Volunteers will meet at Algood City Hall in Cookeville before heading into the community.)

For residents who would like a smoke alarm installation but may not be available during the canvassing event, the best option is to visit SoundTheAlarm.org/Tennessee and request an installation at a time that works for their schedule.

Through targeted outreach and community partnerships, home fires can be prevented by connecting with families, providing home fire safety education, and equipping children and adults with the knowledge they need to prevent and respond to home fires.

Thank you to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville's Institute for Public Service for giving their Project of the Year Award to 's Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) for its part in presenting training during the Law Enforcement Response to Autism Project! TLETA Instructor Kevin Krieb accepted the award from Law Enforcement Innovation Center Training Specialist Jeff Hundley.

proudly announces the arrival of Iris, an A.I.-powered chatbot providing high-quality customer service support for licensed Tennessee professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Named for Tennessee’s state flower, Iris is a powerful communications tool specifically designed to answer licensing questions for the more than 357,000 licensees across TDCI’s Division of Regulatory Boards’ 26 regulatory programs. Citizens can request information about state licensing requirements and request information about licensed individuals and businesses.

After Iris' successful soft launch in August, all customers who connect with TDCI's Customer Service Center either during TDCI’s regular business hours (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. CT) or outside those days and times can receive round-the-clock support from Iris at CORE or TDCI's Regulatory Boards Division website via the chat icon.

Iris, which is fluent in both English and Spanish, can currently answer questions related to licensing questions. While Iris’s program can access individual licensees’ applications and files in the CORE database, the chatbot cannot share customers’ personal data. Additionally, Iris will inform customers when the program has reached its limit of knowledge thus necessitating an interaction with a human customer service representative.
