PSA: To Rental Housing Providers!!

Recently, we've been testing out a new app, called iVueit, that gives property managers and landlords a cheap way of inspecting their properties, where random people, who sign up as gig workers, complete the tasks for the user.

While it may be more cost-effective on the user's part, we've seen MANY problems with the quality of service that the app offers, for everyone involved.

The most important being: Random people performing the inspections! The app does require background checks, but as we've researched, there are many ways around this. Also, these types of apps might be good for delivering goods, but there's a sense of personableness, between tenant and inspector, and attention to detail, that's missing when you have untrained inspectors walking the property.

Arguably, just as important, there is a MAJOR lack of communication between the tenant, the inspector, and the housing provider. One tenant we spoke to said he'd been waiting for WEEKS on someone to come inspect his property. He informed us that there had been a few inspectors who scheduled, but never showed up. We wondered why that would be, until we realized WE weren't even able to do the inspection, due to the app not working correctly and keeping the "task" in the "review" section of the app, keeping us from accessing the task and completing the inspection. Therefore, we had to cancel the inspection on this guy, AGAIN! We scheduled 4 inspections with different tenants, and it's looking like we won't be able to ANY of them!

If you're a property manager, you know the struggle of keeping up with inspections. Choosing cheap apps might seem convenient and more cost-effective, but they will NEVER match the thoroughness and professionalism of a quality rental inspector. Trust me, having a pro on your side ensures every detail is covered, giving you peace of mind and saving you money in the long run.
