Why go to Valuation Expo? It's not for the reason you think.

Okay, maybe it's partially for the reason you think: Obviously, we're all itching for a chance to speak face-to-face with the GSEs, software providers, and lenders to discuss the big UAD 3.6 shift that's happening this year. But there's more to it than that. Much more.

Tune in as I sit down with the faces of Valuation Expo, Jim Morrison and Heidi Reuter. They tell me what we can expect this August and a few of their favorite things about this annual conference. —Bryan Reynolds

Here's the deal: We're an education and media company. We don't make policy or news; we help spread the word, and we *try* to help you get clarity on what's going on. Usually, we do this from our home studios in Nashville (or our instructors' computer screens, wherever they live). But occasionally, when something big is afoot, we come to you. We've done UAD 3.6-themed roadshows in CA, NJ, TN, FL, and IL. Next stop: Dallas!

There's a benefit to being there in person. You can get face time with software providers and reps from the GSEs and ask them your burning questions. You can see behind the curtain of the new URAR and how software companies are overhauling their products to talk to UAD 3.6. Best of all, you can absorb this new info in the company of your peers. Whether you're frustrated, hopeful, or profoundly anxious, it's always good to see that you're not the only one.

Join me in Dallas June 24th-26th (or just one of those days, if you like). This is the last UAD 3.6 bootcamp we plan to do, so I hope you can make it. It's gonna be a great time. —Hal Humphreys

TOMORROW: Ultimate Workfile with Josh Walitt

Why is the workfile so important? Because if you get a complaint and a reviewer asks, "Where'd that assertion come from?", you'll need to lay hands on the evidence.

If your workfile is in order, that'll be a snap. In this class, Josh Walitt will show you examples of what to include in a workfile and how to organize it all so your research is easy to find, just in case you need it.

Development. Reporting. Workfile. The three fundamentals, each as important as the others. Why is the workfile so important? Because if you get a complaint a...

I sat down with three seasoned USPAP experts—Bobby Crisp, Diana Jacob, and Amelia Lovern—and what they shared goes far beyond anything you’ll find in a class.

Diana recounts a property where a man was chained to a basement wall.
Amelia shares a case involving bedroom doors locked from the outside.
Bobby walks through an inspection where a young child was present while the parent was passed out.

These are real-world situations appraisers actually face—and the decisions that come with them. If you think USPAP has a rule for every situation… it doesn’t. And that’s exactly what these experts make clear. —Bryan Reynolds

An appraiser asked me a simple question about a pot plant… then followed up and said the AMC wanted it blurred out. That kicked off a much bigger conversatio...

After wildly popular boot camps in Orlando & Chicago, we’re headed to Dallas! Join us for two full days of CE on ScanToSketch Mobile tech and the new URAR. Then on day 3, we host a non-CE seminar with demos by all the best software providers and a Q&A with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. This will be our last event like this before Valuation Expo in August.

UAD 3.6 Bootcamp in Chicago! End of day 3: our Q&A with Sean Murphy of Freddie Mac and Ken DeFeo of Fannie Mae. They’re explaining the why and how of the new URAR and answering your questions.

First Q: Is Nov. 2 a hard deadline? For real?
A: Yes. And that means you’ve got to start those UAD 3.6 reports in October.

Big thanks to them for making the trip to Chicago! ⭐️
