Something major is happening underneath Nashville.
The Boring Company's Music City Loop has moved beyond the proposal stage; tunneling is underway.
As of its August 14th project update, The Boring Company reported that two tunnel-boring machines were actively working in Nashville, with a third expected to arrive in September. The planned underground transportation system will connect Downtown Nashville with BNA, with additional connections planned between Lower Broadway and West End.
And the potential network is getting much larger.
The company says more than 40 potential stations are now in various stages of planning and design. BNA has approved a connection and station, while other announced agreements and approvals involve Music City Center, downtown residential properties and the JW Marriott.
The project is privately funded, and passengers will eventually pay a fare to ride.
For Nashville real estate, I'm watching projects like this closely. Transportation, development, and accessibility can change how people experience different parts of our city, although it's far too early to predict what this project will mean for individual property values.
