📊✨ The National Association of Realtors just released data showing where mortgage applications surged in 2024. While many metro areas across the U.S. saw gains, the numbers in our corner of Wisconsin stand out.
🏡 Appleton, Neenah, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac each ranked among the nation’s top markets for growth in home loan applications. Appleton led the way with a 19% jump — the highest of all cities tracked!
But here’s the real takeaway: 📈 even though the national report looks backward, our local markets don’t always follow the same script as others. Every price range tells a different story, and what’s true in Spartanburg or San Luis Obispo isn’t always what buyers and sellers feel in the Fox Valley.

📉 Jobs data just sent mixed signals: ADP shows –32,000 jobs while official payrolls rose +38,000. Overall revision may be different according to ADP.
Why it matters for housing:
➡️ Softer jobs mean less buyer confidence.
➡️ Conflicting reports add market uncertainty.
➡️ A weaker labor market could push mortgage rates lower, helping affordability if buyers can qualify.
⚖️ But remember: different price ranges can move in opposite directions, even in the same market. I hope to have such a look after September’s final housing numbers come in

🚦📈 The Labor Department says only 22,000 jobs were added.
The BEA insists GDP surged at a 3.8% pace.
