Zillow has significantly revised its outlook for home value growth this year, now projecting a 3.9% increase for 2023. Monthly home value growth accelerated in April, roughly matching what would have been expected pre-pandemic for the second month in a row.

Their long-term expectation for mortgage rates has been revised downward, which would improve housing affordability for prospective home buyers and provide a tailwind to housing demand.

Expectations for easing mortgage rates, tighter inventory have driven Zillow’s home value forecast higher.

Knowing and remembering the reason you’re renovating will help you stay motivated during your project. A good rule of thumb for budgeting is taking your budget and adding 10-15%. That way you have a built-in cushion if something comes up!

Mortgage rates dropped nearly a half a percent as inflation eased (slightly) and recent employment data suggested that the jobs market is finally starting to loosen up. With this in mind, there's a 50/50 chance that the Fed may 'pause' rate hikes in early May. Meanwhile, homebuyer demand is rebounding but supply isn't keeping pace.
