🌸 April Staycation at Ricketson Nature Center 🌿

Looking for something meaningful, active, and creative for April break? Join us at Ricketson Nature Center for a four-day April Staycation filled with nature exploration, hands-on art, and recreation!

📅 Tuesday–Friday | April 21–24
⏰ 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
💲 $50 Registration Fee-New Bedford Residents
💲 $100 Registration Fee-Non-Residents

This year’s theme is Spring in Bloom, where participants will explore the magic of the season through:

🌱 Spring Planting Activities – Get hands in the soil and learn the basics of planting and growing.
🎨 Introduction to Our Art Garden Program – Creativity meets nature with outdoor-inspired art projects.
🏀 Daily Recreation Trips – We’ll head to the recreation center each day for structured games and active fun.
🚌 One Special Field Trip – A highlight experience to round out the week!

🥣 AM Snacks Provided (examples include yogurt, cereal, and fresh fruit)
🍽️ Lunch Included Daily

This program blends outdoor learning, creativity, wellness, and recreation in a safe and welcoming environment. It’s a perfect way for youth to stay engaged, active, and inspired during April break.

🚨 𝐒𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐘 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐀𝐍 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 🚨

The snow emergency parking ban is 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭, and vehicles must continue to comply with the ban. The NBPD is continuing announcements and enforcement. Parking in violation of the ban slows snow removal efforts and creates safety issues for emergency vehicles and plow crews.

As cleanup continues, we also want to remind residents of a few important, and familiar, winter rules:

• By city ordinance, snow and ice may not be shoveled or placed back into the roadway or onto sidewalks. This creates hazards and has historically been a source of frustration and neighborhood disputes.

• Plows are continuing to work, and the parking ban is still in effect at this time. Please park accordingly. If you have retrieved your vehicle after having been towed, please do not return it to the wrong side of the street. It could be towed again. Please heed the rules of the parking ban.

• If someone took the time to shovel out a spot, don’t be that person who swoops in and takes it. Just because you can park there doesn’t mean you should. That kind of behavior is not neighborly and often leads to unnecessary arguments.

• Please understand that 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 to clear the streets as quickly and safely as possible. Repeated calls regarding the same vehicle or location can be problematic. We are ticketing and towing on a priority system rooted in public safety. Individual requests for enforcement cannot be accommodated until all priority routes have been addressed.
