🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — We Will Never Forget
25 years ago, an ordinary Tuesday morning became a day that changed America forever. Today, we remember the 2,977 lives taken, the first responders who ran toward danger, the families forever changed, and all those who carried the weight of that day in the years that followed.
A timeline of September 11, 2001:
🕗 8:46 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 11 strikes the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
🕘 9:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 175 strikes the South Tower. America realizes it is under attack.
🕤 9:37 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon.
🕙 9:59 a.m. — The South Tower collapses.
🕙 10:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 93 crashes near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew fight back against the hijackers. Their courage prevented the plane from reaching its intended target.
🕥 10:28 a.m. — The North Tower collapses.
In just 102 minutes, our nation was forever changed.
But alongside unimaginable tragedy came extraordinary courage. Firefighters climbed the stairs while others fled down. Police officers, EMTs, military personnel, clergy, ordinary citizens, and strangers helped one another. Passengers aboard Flight 93 chose to act, knowing what it might cost them.
Today, may we remember not only how America was attacked, but how Americans responded—with courage, sacrifice, prayer, compassion, and unity.
We remember those who left for work that morning and never came home. We remember those who answered the call and gave their lives trying to save others. We remember the survivors and the first responders who later became sick from their service at Ground Zero. We remember the families who have lived 25 years with an empty place at the table.
May we teach the generations who were not yet born what happened that September morning so their names, their courage, and their sacrifice are never forgotten.
