Yesterday I led worship at church, and during the song I was leading, there were a few moments when I cried and just couldn’t hold back the tears. I just felt the Holy Spirit so strongly and loved every second of it.

I didn’t care that people saw me crying, because that’s what it’s about. Leading worship isn’t about putting on a performance or entertaining people, it’s about bringing people to Jesus. At least that’s what it’s about for me.

After I finished, the enemy immediately got in my head and made me feel like I did a bad job or somehow ruined the moment. But then person after person came up to me and thanked me and said they cried as well, that they felt the Holy Spirit, and that they were deeply moved during worship. It was such a good reminder that when we take the focus off ourselves and simply obey, God does the rest.

Gosh, life has been incredibly busy this year, and I’m so thankful for that. So many answered prayers and honestly just living the life I’ve always prayed for. But with busyness, some things take the back burner, and lately that’s been my time in the Word. I’m still praying, worshiping, and talking to Him, but I haven’t been spending time in Scripture, and man, I’ve been feeling it.

Yesterday, the Lord reminded me that all I need is more of Him. And He reminded me in the most beautiful way possible. It was also a great reminder of the kind of person I want to be. I want to be more like Him and extend the same grace to others that He so freely gives to me. Because if I’m honest, I fall short often, yet He never stops loving me, pursuing me, and showing me grace.

If you’re feeling heavy, overwhelmed, or like something is missing this morning, maybe you need that reminder too. The thing you’re trying to fill the void and the heaviness with won’t satisfy. Only Jesus can, so make time for Him today 🫶🏽

Today we celebrated something special for the very first time: James’ Gotcha Day! We let her choose activities for the entire day and did some of her favorite things (the most important was )

Six years ago today, she officially became ours. This is the first year we’ve celebrated because it wasn’t until last year that we started having conversations with her about her adoption story and what this day means. As she’s getting older, she’s beginning to understand more of the beautiful way God brought our family together.

James has never felt anything but loved and wanted and we pray that that never changes. She has always been our daughter, even before she was born, because the Lord always had a plan for her to be a part of our family. But today gives us a chance to celebrate a milestone that helped shape our family’s story.

James, you God’s greatest gift to us. Being your mom and dad is a privilege we never take for granted. You have brought so much joy, laughter, adventure, and love into our lives.

We thank God for you every single day and are so grateful that out of all the families in the world, He chose ours to be yours.

Moving to Texas was really hard because all of my family is in Hawaii. My roots run deep there, and I lived a country life that I absolutely loved. Riding horses and working with cattle are things that I took for granted while growing up, but have now become passionate about.

That being said, I wouldn’t change our decision to leave. We’ve met some of the most incredible people here in Texas and have built a life that we truly love. But getting to go back to Hawaii to visit family means so much to us, and we’re incredibly thankful that we’re able to do it often.

This last trip was such a blast. My heart was so full watching my parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins love on and support our little girl. There’s something so special about seeing her surrounded by the people who have loved her from the very beginning encouraging her and cheering her on.

Hawaii will always be home in many ways, and every trip back reminds us just how blessed we are to have family waiting for us there. We get to live the best of both worlds both here in Texas and back in Hawaii, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything!

Memorial Day hits differently when you get to see generations come together like this.

It’s tradition in my home town for the community to get together and honor those who served with a rodeo. I grew up coming to this rodeo each year with my dad, brothers and entire extended family (and even entered myself when I was young).

This year was extra special watching James enter the rodeo for the very first time, with my dad right there beside her every step of the way. He provided the horses, supported her, and cheered her on the whole time. And even more special that she had her mama, daddy, uncles, aunties and cousins helping her and cheering her on as well.

Growing up in the rodeo and ranching world taught me so much about hard work, family, and honoring those who came before us. Getting to watch my daughter experience a piece of that with my family was something I’ll never forget.

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. Heartbroken that they had to die so we could live, but incredibly grateful for the sacrifices made so we can enjoy moments like these 🇺🇸
