1. How do I submit a maintenance request, and how fast do you typically respond?
2. Is renters insurance required?
3. What are the pet policies and fees?
4. What does move-out look like, and how is the security deposit handled?

Have these things on hand before you apply so you can move fast:

- A valid government-issued ID
- Proof of income (pay stubs, offer letter, or bank statements)
- Contact info for a previous landlord or personal reference
- Your Social Security number for the background and credit check

Do they communicate quickly, or do you have to chase them down? Do they handle maintenance calls so you don’t have to? Do they screen tenants thoroughly before handing over the keys? Do they know the local market, or are they guessing on your rental price?
