By the 42nd round, these kids were still bringing fresh opinions and questions and we were running on caffene and muscle memory. 😂 It was fun seeing how differently they approached the same real estate decisions. Some of them are going to be tough negotiators someday!

Yesterday, our REMAX First Integrity team spent the day at the East Central Educational Service Center with about 200 ninth graders from Shenandoah and Hagerstown at the Inspire Your Future career event!

We love having a facility right here in our community where students can explore careers by actually trying them out. Our agents gave them a taste of real estate with a few quick challenges involving buying a home, negotiating an inspection, and choosing between offers.

By the end of the day, we realized each agent had run through the simulation 42 times. We may need a day to recover before talking through another inspection response. 😂

Friends will always and forever be my show…but yeah…you don’t have to be in real estate to know something doesn’t add up with Monica’s apartment!😁

Of all the gentle unrealities Friends asked viewers to accept, none has been more scrutinised over the decades than Monica Geller's apartment a sprawling, two-bedroom West Village unit with a working fireplace, a balcony, and enough square footage to comfortably host six people every single episode, all supposedly maintained by an entry-level chef.

The show's own internal explanation only stretched credibility further. Monica reveals partway through the series that she's living in an illegal sublet, having taken over the lease from her grandmother years earlier a rent-controlled arrangement that, by New York City housing convention, would have frozen her monthly payment at a fraction of market rate. Even accounting for that legal loophole, financial analysts and real estate writers have repeatedly pointed out that the apartment's location and size would represent an extraordinary luxury for someone working her way up through professional kitchens, a career notorious for modest early-career pay even in a city as expensive as New York.

Chandler and Joey's apartment across the hall drew similar scrutiny for years a data processor and a struggling actor somehow affording a comparably spacious unit in the same building, until the show eventually clarified Chandler was actually covering the bulk of the rent himself.

It's become one of the most frequently cited examples of "sitcom logic" in television criticism the kind of premise nobody questioned while watching in the 1990s, but which crumbles almost immediately under any real financial scrutiny applied decades later, especially as New York rent prices climbed to levels that make Monica's apartment feel less like an aspirational fantasy and more like an outright impossibility.
