A multigenerational home isn’t just a house with an extra bedroom. It needs to actually work for everyone living there now and years from now.

When my clients are looking for a true multigenerational home, these are three things I tell them not to overlook:

🏡 The ability to age in place. Look for a first-floor bedroom and full bath, minimal stairs, and a layout that could continue to work as mobility needs change.

🚪 Truly separate living areas. Everyone needs some privacy. A second living space, separate entrance, kitchenette, or private bedroom/bath setup can make a huge difference when multiple generations are under one roof.

🛋️ More than one common space. One living room sounds fine—until everyone wants to use it differently. Multiple gathering spaces give you room to be together without feeling like you have to be together all the time.

The right multigenerational home gives your family both connection and independence, and that’s what I’m really looking for when I help clients find one.

The best texts I get as a agent have Rockland County agent that have nothing to do with buying or selling. 🤳

It’s when a past client texts me for the roofer’s number, asks where to go for date night, sends a photo from the kitchen they finished renovating, or tells me they finally tried that little spot I would not stop talking about.

That’s the part I love most about getting to work with my clients.
