Not bad for a house that has seen minimal updates since 1989, several bad DIY fixes, been abandoned for a time and had squatters, several broken front windows, a flooded basement, foundation issues, and an illegal counterfeit jeans ring operating out of the car hole.

The four-bed, two-and-a-half-bath home was estimated at 2,200 square feet by Garretts Real Estate Group.

According to the U.S. Census, the median mortgage payment (not the same as average) is $1,022 per month for a 30-year fixed-rate loan at 4.10%. For first-time homebuyers, the National Association of REALTORS® reports that average payments would be $838 a month on a 30-year fixed-rate loan at 4.10% ($182,500 housing cost with 5% down payment).

Compared to average rental rates, lots of people will be better off buying a home rather than renting an apartment. Average rental costs across the U.S. are $1,409, up by 2.8% from the previous year, according to Yardi Matrix, ranging from $1,242 for a studio to $1,274 for a one-bedroom unit, $1,493 for a two-bedroom unit, and $1,719 for a three-bedroom unit.
