Built 1873–74 as New Hope Methodist Episcopal Church (later United Methodist), this stone Gothic building by James Bird with masonry by Peter S. In 2021 it reopened as Oldestone Steakhouse, honoring the building with USDA Prime steaks, seafood, craft cocktails, and many original features: stained glass, repurposed pews, a 30-foot mural Redemption by Valeriy Belenikin, chandeliers seen in John Wick 3, and a speakeasy-style jazz lounge on the third floor.

New Hope’s history spans 10,000 years of Lenni-Lenape settlement. William Penn’s 18th-century land sales led to Coryell’s Ferry, a key Old York Road crossing. George Washington lodged here before crossing the Delaware in 1776 and later ordered the ferry destroyed. The town endured the Revolutionary War, grew with the 1832 Delaware Canal, and was incorporated as New Hope in 1837.
