John Morton, a seven-time Olympic participant and former U.S. Biathlon Team athlete is helping shape the trail vision at Kearsarge Community Common. As founder of Morton Trails, John brings decades of experience designing cross-country skiing, hiking, biking and multi-use recreational trails that connect people to the outdoors. His work focuses on creating thoughtful, sustainable spaces that support active and vibrant communities, and we are thrilled to have his expertise guiding KCC’s journey.

Our team is ignited to move the Kearsarge Community Project forward. 244 acres of land in Sutton on Blaisdell Lake and Billings Pond to be donated for public use, enjoyment, recreation, and education. Here’s what we focused on this week:
• Met with the Sutton Fire Department to confirm specifications for a dedicated emergency helicopter landing zone for the Dartmouth Hitchcock Advanced Response Team, establishing a safe, circular landing area - a meaningful addition for Sutton and greatly appreciated by our firefighters!
• Connected with the Kearsarge Food Hub to advance Seed-to-Table programming, planning both near-term opportunities and a permanent, long-term home.
• Met with SHEI and NEHSA to help shape the future beach, dock and pavilion - working toward becoming New Hampshire’s first universally accessible, ADA-compliant beach designed for comfort, safety and joyful programming.
We’re energized by the progress being made and grateful for the strong community support surrounding this project.
