The national real estate industry is having a big shake up regarding agent agreements, transparency & commissions. This has also resulted in new Louisiana law. Fun times! No worries… I am here to be your guide.

A quick summary:
1. Buyers & their agents now must sign agreements prior to starting their home search (just as sellers have always had professional agreements in place in order to list properties for sale).
2. Such agreements will spell out commissions - encouraging full transparency about how agents get paid.
3. I suspect commissions offered to a buyer’s agent by a seller will still likely be commonplace. However, buyer’s agent commissions will no longer be listed publicly in the MLS. (I expect to now write commissions into contracts more often.)
4. My biggest piece of advice for both buyers & sellers has not changed - get yourself a reputable, knowledgeable agent!!! πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Real estate is a huge investment. There is considerable financial risk in a real estate transaction. You are always better off in the hands of a professional.
