Tulane University, where he earned the first known 4.0 in the history of the program, and is currently enrolled part-time in a graduate certificate program in Real Estate Investment at Harvard University. As an undergrad, he studied Architecture at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and matriculated with a B.A. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University at Albany. A focus on community service and support has been the bedrock of Mike's real estate career. Starting in 2014, Mike has spent an average of 20 to 25 hours per week volunteering for his community and/or donating to local non-profits: Mike was a past Vice President of Operations for the Algiers Point Association for multiple years, for which he planned and managed all APA events (First Fridays on the Point, Movies on the Point, Holidays on the Point, and the Fall Home Tour 2015, 2017, and 2019, among other events) and has since been a member of the APA's Advisory Board; he sat on the Advisory Board for the Old Algiers Main Street Corporation, and also volunteered for their Building Blocks neighborhood revitalization committee; Mike was also a member of the board of Confetti Kids, an Algiers Point neighborhood group focused on developing parks and playgrounds for the youngest generations of Algerines. He has been a financial donor for all of these organizations, among others, for many years. Prior to becoming a licensed Realtor, Mike worked for the world's largest engineering consulting firm as a Senior Architectural Historian and City/Preservation Planner. From 2007 through 2011, he managed a team of environmental and historic preservation consultants for FEMA in New Orleans, Louisiana, in their recovery efforts post-Hurricane Katrina: his team of architects, architectural historians, archaeologists, and environmental/wetlands specialists successfully reviewed over 50,000 properties within the State of Louisiana for which federal funding was sought. Upon demobilizing from the Louisiana Recovery Office, Mike was promoted to national lead for his firm's cultural resources support to DHS and DOD. Mike has recently completed a full restoration/renovation of an 1893 Queen Anne/Eastlake Cottage that is a City of New Orleans architectural landmark in Old Algiers. He shares his home with four NOLA rescue doggies, all of whom were strays he has found on the streets and levees of New Orleans: Woodreaux Wilson, an 11-year old boxer/pit mix; Lady Bird Johnson, a 15-year old French Bulldog/pibble mix; and the latest additions, Abraham Lincoln and James Buchanan, former strays that were picked up as puppies on the streets of Old Algiers in 2021; they are fraternal twins who look nothing alike but are part lab, part hound, and part Great Pyrennes. Between an all-hours, extremely hectic work schedule, community events, and a house full of rescued pups, there is never a dull moment in his household... Mike chooses to embrace the chaos.
