Upon graduating from Jesuit High School, Matt enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for eight years as a logistics specialist. He deployed overseas twice, including a combat tour in Iraq in 2003. After attaining the rank of Sergeant and leaving the Marines, Matt joined the family business, Salathe Oil and Gas, a wholesale petroleum and Blue Rhino propane distributor. From making de
liveries in the hours and days following Katrina, he rose to become the Operations Manager, where he was instrumental in the substantial growth of the company across the Gulf South following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Through his steady, boots-on-the-ground performance Matt was able to more than quadruple their number of retail locations and in 2009 Matt and team were recognized as Blue Rhino's top independent distributor in the United States for maintaining the highest delivery performance and service nationwide. He routinely worked hand in hand with major big box accounts such as Lowe's, Home Depot, & Wal-Mart. In 2012 Matthew went in a creative direction and founded Yat City, a New Orleans themed clothing and gifts business. Matt turned his love for all things New Orleans into a creative outlet enjoyed by locals and tourists alike, becoming an ambassador for our people and rich culture. His Saints, Mardi Gras, and neighborhood themed shirts are seen all over the city. Matt enjoys spending time exploring the city with his rescue dog Budweiser. In 2017, Matt went on pilgrimage to France and Spain, where he walked the Way of St. James, from St. Jean Pied de Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, ending in Finisterre, Spain. This journey is what brought Matt to this point today. Matt looks forward to assisting clients with their residential and commercial real estate goals. With deep family roots in New Orleans dating back to the late 1800's, and a tremendous generational family history of entrepreneurship in the area, Matt looks forward to sharing his expertise of all things New Orleans with his clients. For exceptional sales Matt has won Latter & Blum's Gold Award in 2021; Silver Award in 2020; and was the recipient of their Military Scholarship Program upon licensure in 2018.
