It's ridiculous, but we have to keep them safe. We have never had any issues with predator animals like coyotes or foxes killing our rescue patients, but we HAVE had issues with hunting dogs killing our animals.
And yet, we can't stop them from "hunting" across our property, putting every single animal we rescue at risk. Hundreds of animal lives, who would normally be totally safe here, are now in danger from these dogs trained to kill them.
If I have one of our ambassador animals out of their enclosure to work on training when the dogs run through on a "hunt", they could be killed. Chaos the fox could be murdered. Shawnee the red-tailed hawk could be ripped to pieces. Polly the opossum could end up as a chew toy. You would think we should be allowed to feel safe on our own private property, but that's not the case. We can plan for nighttime visitors like raccoons or coyotes and keep our animals contained, but we can't plan for unexpected daytime predators controlled by a man who just wants to be a dick to us.
We don't have another option, because we can't stop them from running their dogs through (trust me, we've had the DNR and law enforcement out here to discuss our options). We HAVE to build a perimeter fence to keep the animals safe.
We need your help to do that.
The estimate for the fencing is $16,700. Donating to our GoFundMe allows for that money to fund our perimeter fencing.
We have to make this happen as quickly as possible, before we have our spring babies arrive and even more animals are at risk. Can you help us keep our animals safe from coyote hunting dogs and their irresponsible humans?
