🚨 NEW PENNSYLVANIA LAW STR OWNERS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
If you own or operate a short-term rental in Pennsylvania — including an Airbnb or VRBO here in the Poconos — there is a new law you should have on your radar.
Under Pennsylvania Act 31 of 2026, certain short-term rental operators, lodging establishments and third-party rental platforms will be required to complete approved Human Trafficking Awareness Training.
The goal is to help people in the hospitality and short-term rental industry recognize possible signs of human trafficking and understand how to properly report suspicious activity.
📅 The requirement takes effect July 20, 2027.
The approved training for the short-term rental industry is listed through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), and certification is valid for 2 years.
With the Poconos being such a large vacation and short-term rental market, this is something local STR owners and investors should be aware of now — rather than finding out about it later.
🏡 I always try to keep my clients and fellow Pocono property owners informed when new Pennsylvania rules may affect owning or operating an investment property.
