Ema Degnen Design

Ema Degnen Design Interior Design Services & Real Estate Staging. Westchester, NY In 2016, I transitioned into residential design with the formation of Ema Degnen Design.

Graduating from Brighton University in the UK, I've been working in the field of design for more than 20 years. With my background and education in fashion and textile design, I bravely swam across the Atlantic in the early 90's to continue my career in New York. My bilingual skills (both English AND American!) guided my success at LIz Claiborne, Dana Buchman, Saks 5th Avenue and Barney's New York

. I embrace a holistic approach, placing importance on practical needs as well as budget and design. My work has an elevated mix of color, texture and pattern. I delight in the opportunity to solve logistical issues, adhere to budgets and approach each new project's expected challenges with enthusiasm and a wealth of energy. At the end of the day, I love working directly with clients to fulfill their hope for beautiful and practical spaces. So, whether you're measuring in centimeters or inches, love color or neutrals, I can help you reach your design goals.

We worked with our client to create a soft, warm living space which reflected her Southern roots. The area itself is large, so I split the room to create a comfortable nook and give definition to an awkward corner. The palette is subtle, but often those are rooms we love the most. We layered pale olives, dusty pinks, peaches, and caramel that invite you to relax and unwind.

Love the clothes or hate them, the Met Gala is always a sight to behold. Art was the inspiration this year, so I thought I’d share some art inspired furniture. Guess the artist & is back! šŸŽØ

The inspiration for this Chappaqua kitchen really started with the color palette. The pistachio cabinetry and blush walls were not safe choices, but the end result evokes an almost historic look.

An extra 18ā€ of height was discovered when the ceiling was removed - a design miracle ;) We tiled floor to ceiling for a dramatic effect.

The client wanted an island, so the very talented Quentin custom made a piece to fit the style of the room and the narrow footprint: it’s one of my favorite details. Shout out to Quentin!

I can’t decide if Benjamin Moore’s color of the year for 2026 is sophisticated or depressing.

Historically, it’s well known that skirt hemlines rise during recessions and fall during times of economic boom... do color trends?

What does brown-grey say about our future?? ā˜€ļøšŸŒ§ļøāš”ļø

National Cherish an Antique Day (April 9th)…Not everything needs to be new ..duh!

Maybe you have a hand-me-down dining table, or candlesticks you found in a thrift store; whatever the providence, antiques can be worth more than their monetary value.

The stories and memories associated with pieces you collect through the years make every piece special. As a designer I love to mix the old and the new!

Check out these awesome pieces and if you don’t have anything right now - go bug an elderly relative,, you never know what you might find.
