The wealth gap didn’t happen by accident.

For decades, access to homeownership wasn’t equal. Restrictive housing covenants, redlining, and lending policies prevented many families from building wealth through real estate, even while others were able to buy homes, build equity, and pass that wealth down to future generations.

When people ask why some families started ahead while others are still fighting to catch up, history matters.
