There’s something special about being surrounded by people who genuinely care about people. Yes, we talk business, but people come first-- always. I understand why the words "real estate" can sometimes leave a bad taste in people's mouths. For many, it can seem like a cold, transactional, and even brutal industry.
But so many of the people I know in this business are also teachers, bakers, counselors, volunteers, and community builders. Those experiences don't stay separate from our work-- they shape how we serve our clients. They make us better listeners, better problem-solvers, and better advocates.
Real estate is about homes, but at its core, it's about people. And nights like this one at remind me why I love being in the industry of real estate. Thank you for inviting me, and the other hosts for throwing such an electric event for us to enjoy!!

In this 2023 photo, I had just gotten home from a showing. My infant daughter was crawling around and exploring all her toys strewn across the floor. I thought to myself, I could be home, roasting organic bone marrow bones and preparing super nutritious meals for her, but I chose my real estate work. In the second photo, I hold my infant son very tightly, trying to squeeze his little body here and there to see if he's plumped up yet... who I also wish I had the time to roast bone marrow bones for. Some time has passed now for me in motherhood, and I am learning... There is no shame in being a Realtor Mom. There is no shame in being a Stay-at-home Mom. There is so much good that comes from a mom, and most of it is inexpressible. These babies are my joy, my life... I work hard to set an example for them. I hope they will work hard one day to love their neighbors, and to build a home that welcomes others in. A home where others can find rest from the chaos in.

The kitchen is the heart of the home.

At 22, I had just graduated with a music education degree and moved to Indonesia to put my raw skills to the test. My employer was in charge of my housing, and placed me in a boarding home that had no kitchen. It felt literally impossible to cook, so I often ate street food...up until a new colleague moved into the same building. She would often knock on my door and bring her illegal rice cooker in. We'd invite others over and share a pot of monggo (mung bean stew), champorado (chocolate rice porridge), and even chicken adobo! Every hearty meal she prepared was a testament to her compassion and care for others. Through this experience, I've come to understand the quiet power of a simple, loving gesture.
