Neighbors and Friends,

As a volunteer grass-roots effort, Cortelyou Road Merchants Association has survived with dues collected from the our merchants and small grants from elected officials, which covered the costs of street cleaning, our first priority, as well as the festive holiday lights each season, beautification efforts and promotional activities.
This year, due to the pandemic, elected officials are stretched in unprecedented ways and the business owners can not afford to pay the membership dues.

Thus, we find ourselves in dire times. At the end of this year our street cleaning funds will be depleted. The cuts to the NYC Department of Sanitation's budget in response to the economic crises have reduced basket collection to 3x weekly. Clearly it is insufficient. DPH Property Maintenance Service supplements this effort but costs 36K for 3 days a week.

We can no longer do this on our own. We need YOU, our neighbors and community members to take a stand with us, to support our local business district in their time of need.
