The Delaware State Police has informed the Christina School District that there will be increased police activity and traffic around the University of Delaware and surrounding areas and highways due to funeral services honoring Cpl. Matthew T. "Ty" Snook at the Bob Carpenter Center on Monday, January 5.

Given the anticipated increase in traffic (3,000+ vehicles) and expected bus delays due to our main bus depot’s proximity to the event, ALL Christina schools will move to synchronous remote learning on Monday, January 5. This decision ensures that students can learn from home without worrying about transportation challenges or safety risks associated with heavy traffic.

Students/ Families: Principals and/or teachers will send remote learning instructions and information to families by 2 PM on Sunday.

12-Month Staff: Please plan ahead, drive safely, and allow extra time for your commute. Please also check your email for additional information from your supervisor.

We understand this adjustment may present challenges and sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Our thoughts are with Cpl. Snook’s family, friends, and all who have been touched by his service and sacrifice.
