Two weeks into a brand-new career, and I can honestly sayâthis has been one of the most exciting (and humbling) transitions of my life.
After more than 25 years with the same company, I didnât really know what to expect. Jacqui Robertson and I spent months planning the launch of the R&R Teamâmeeting every other week with our amazing broker, talking through strategy, systems, and goals. But as anyone whoâs made a big change knows, planning is one thing. Waking up that first Monday morning knowing itâs game on is something else entirely.
For perspective, I started my career at 26 years old. Back then, texting didnât exist. Letâs just say the world of selling has changed a little since then.
That first Monday morning was honestly a bit terrifying. New industry. New people. New expectations. And surprisingly, a big life change was realizing I now had to think about what I was wearing. For the last six years working from home, my âprofessional uniformâ was cargo shorts and a polo. Casual Friday? Cargo shorts and a t-shirt. Now⌠actual pants. Turns out that takes more time and effort than grabbing the next pair of cargo shorts.
Week one was incredible. I met a ton of new people, and Jacqui kept me moving at full speedâconstantly reminding me, âWeâre going to make this work.â We joined the local Chamber of Commerce, attended a chamber event, and I found myself sitting in a marketing technology classâme, the guy who used to lead trainings, now the student.
Vincent with Berkshire Hathaway Georgia Properties did a fantastic job facilitating the class. I learned a lot, asked plenty of questions, and went back for week two to learn even more. There is so much to learn.
Week one also included our very first listing appointment together. Iâve been on hundreds of sales calls throughout my careerâfrom meeting with small business owners to presenting to C-suite executivesâbut this sales call was different. Jacqui and I talked through what we wanted to say ahead of time, and of course, I put together a PowerPoint (old habits die hard). It was a new dynamic, a new rhythm, and a very different kind of conversation. We learned a lot from that first listing appointment togetherâand weâll only get better from here.
That same week, I participated in a business review with Jacqui, Joy Barnes, and Dustin Shaw Homes. The meeting went extremely well, and everyone walked away with a clear plan for how we can better promote Dustinâs properties.
I also attended my first real estate sales meetingâand stayed for the chili cook-off afterward (somehow taking second place). It was a lot of fun and a great reminder of how welcoming this industry really is.
When youâve been with a company for a long time, itâs easy to become complacent. To stop learning. To fall into a rut without even realizing it. I know I did.
Now, I wake up excitedâbecause Iâm learning something new, meeting new people, and being challenged in ways I havenât felt in years. A major career change isnât for everyone, but for me, it has been incredibly rewarding.
Iâm thankful for the opportunity, for the amazing people at the office, and for a broker who truly wants to help develop her team. And if youâor someone you knowâis looking to buy or sell in the Newnan/Coweta County area, weâd love to help.
And if itâs not our market, between the Berkshire Hathaway network and the Tom Ferry network, Jacqui and I can help connect you with the right agent wherever youâre looking.
Canât wait to see what week three brings.
I plan to share weekly updates and take you along with me on this journey as we continue building the R&R Team.
