Keller Williams Realty Atlanta Partners Newnan and Keller Williams Realty Carrollton Collect More Than 11,600 Food Items for Local Students
Summer Backpack Series supports Backpack Buddies of Georgia as the nonprofit expands its reach from Coweta County into Carroll County
NEWNAN, Ga. and CARROLLTON, Ga. — September 8, 2026 — Keller Williams Realty Atlanta Partners Newnan and Keller Williams Realty Carrollton recently completed their 2026 Summer Backpack Series, a three-month community initiative that collected more than 11,600 individual food items for Backpack Buddies of Georgia, supporting the nonprofit's work to fight childhood food insecurity in Coweta County and its expansion into Carroll County.
Throughout June, July and August, agents from both offices rallied their clients, contacts, families and community vendors to collect one specific, high-need food item each month.
The results included:
June: More than 2,500 macaroni and cheese cups
July: More than 5,600 granola bars
August: More than 3,500 fruit cups
“At Keller Williams, being part of a community means more than simply doing business there. It means finding ways to give back and make an impact,” said Joanna Sherer, CEO and Executive Business Coach for Keller Williams Realty Atlanta Partners Newnan and Keller Williams Realty Carrollton. “With offices serving both Coweta and Carroll counties, it was important to us that this initiative benefit families across both communities. We are excited to support Backpack Buddies of Georgia as their mission grows into Carroll County.”
Backpack Buddies of Georgia is a Newnan-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood food insecurity. The organization works with school counselors to identify children at risk of hunger and provides nutritious, easy-to-prepare food for weekends, holidays and other times when school meals are unavailable. Backpack Buddies of Georgia currently serves approximately 1,700 children across 36 schools in Coweta County and is expanding its efforts into Carroll County.
“Our agents didn't just bring a few items into the office. More than 11,600 items later, this is what it looks like when our agents use the relationships they've built to do something bigger than real estate, and now those donations will make an impact in both Coweta and Carroll counties.”
The Summer Backpack Series reflects the ongoing commitment of Keller Williams Realty Atlanta Partners Newnan and Keller Williams Realty Carrollton to supporting organizations and initiatives that directly impact the communities their agents live, work and serve in.
Both offices extend their appreciation to every agent, client, family member, local business and community partner who contributed throughout the summer.
