Our Kids In Need fundraising effort is focused on supplying teachers with essential school supplies for their students. With your help, we can fund individual teachers with critically needed learning resources. Each teacher supported through Supply A Teacher receives two large boxes filled with the core school supply items needed to fuel 24 students for a full semester of active learning. Joseph Allan Beek (December 16, 1880 – October 21, 1968) was the longest-serving Secretary of the Senate in California history (1919–68). Beek was perhaps best known for his role in developing Balboa Island. He established the Balboa Island Ferry, built roads and bridges, and was one of the island's chief promoters. Beek was also Chairman of the California Small Craft Harbor Commission, was a published musician and composer, a World War II veteran, and a promoter of reforestation of hills surrounding Orange County.

Balboa Island is a harborside community located in Newport Beach, California, accessible to the public via bridge, ferry and several public docks.[1] The community is surrounded by a paved concrete boardwalk open to pedestrian traffic, designated as a public walking trail by the city.[2]
