This is what real estate looks like more often than not. No makeup, no perfect hair, no polished photo. Just me at my home office desk, doing everything I can to get another deal across the finish line.

The last few months have been some of the hardest I’ve experienced in over 20 years in this business. Not just because of complicated transactions, but because of the difficult life transitions some of my clients have been navigating.

Some mornings start here at 5:30 AM, with calls coming in by 6:30 from clients and East Coast bankers. Some nights I’m still here at 10 PM, working through one more obstacle. Am I suggesting everyone should work this way? Absolutely not.

I never take lightly the responsibility of someone’s largest purchase or most challenging sale. And I truly believe that on some of these complicated transactions, nobody else could have gotten them done. Not because I have every answer, but because of the sheer passion and tenacity I bring to finding one. When my clients want to make it work, I keep looking for a way forward. Giving up isn’t how I’m wired.

The “weather tax” is real… and plenty of people are happy to pay it. ☀️

I’d argue we have some of the best weather in the country. When you can spend so much of the year outside, it becomes a big part of how you live, and for many people, that’s worth paying for.

The IRS actually tracks migration through address changes on tax returns. The latest numbers cover 2022–2023, when 61,291 people moved into Orange County from other California counties, plus another 28,533 from other states. That’s nearly 90,000 people who made OC their next home.

The numbers covering 2024 are forthcoming, and I expect we’ll see even more people coming to our great OC.

People come and people go, but plenty get here and have no plans to leave. I’ve lived in OC for most of my life, and in plenty of our coastal towns, everyday life can feel like a vacation. A walk on the beach, dinner by the water, and being outside in the middle of winter? I get why people stay.

So I’m a little biased on this hot take. 😉 What’s your favorite city in Orange County?

What a blessing it is to be tired

It’s a busy season.
It won’t always look like this. So instead of asking, “How will I do it all?” I’m choosing to be grateful that I get to. Here’s a little snapshot of the last week. 🤍

You know when your work people become your people? Like friends that you get excited to see? Lisa and Whitney I first met when we were all working for Compass years ago. We met at an event in Aspen. Years later, who would’ve thought that Lisa Smith would be the Founder of SERHANT. California with me as our Northern California agent. Of course, her bestie ✨Whitney Rich✨ is still crushing her social media. Cheers to a great roof top event for Sell It in Denver.
