My Dear Neighbors,
A very important reminder when hiring contractors: PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU SIGN ANY CONTRACT OR HAND OVER ANY MONEY.
Our homes are major investments, and the wrong contractor can cost you thousands of dollars, create unnecessary damage, and cause months of stress.
Before hiring anyone:
✅ Verify that the contractor is properly licensed and insured.
✅ Check their license and make sure it is current and valid.
✅ Check multiple reviews—not just the good ones. Look for patterns in complaints, workmanship, communication, and customer service.
✅ Ask for references from recent customers and actually contact them.
✅ Get multiple written estimates so you can compare pricing and scope of work.
✅ Make sure everything is in writing—materials, labor, timeline, payment schedule, warranties, and exactly what is included.
✅ Never choose a contractor simply because they offer the lowest price. The cheapest estimate can sometimes become the most expensive mistake.
Your home deserves professional workmanship. Protect your investment by choosing qualified, properly licensed and insured contractors with a proven track record.
Take the time to investigate BEFORE the work begins—not after something goes wrong.
Let’s look out for one another and help protect the quality, beauty, and value of our neighborhood. 🏡
