Thanks to Proposition 19, eligible homeowners can transfer the taxable value of their primary residence to a replacement home anywhere in California. If you bought your home years ago and have a low tax basis, this is a significant advantage, one that can make downsizing, upsizing, or relocating feel a lot more financially approachable.

And it gets better. This used to be a one-time benefit. Now, qualifying homeowners can transfer their tax base up to three times.
