What is a zero lot line?

A zero lot line is a property configuration where a building is constructed directly on or very close to the property boundary. Unlike traditional homes that sit in the middle of a lot, zero lot line properties eliminate one or both side setbacks to maximize usable space, increase housing density, and reduce yard maintenance.
Key Characteristics

The Footprint: One exterior wall of the home is placed directly on the edge of the lot line.
The Trade-off: Eliminating the side setback on one side typically results in a larger, consolidated yard on the opposite side.Building
