Predicted this, and several other changes, in my book Commissions at Risk published in 2005! So many people said there’s no way, and that I was crazy. Ha! All I can say is finally… Market disintermediation will begin..
Among many things, the lock on the MLS system will be gone… Publicizing commissions that steer clients to more expensive homes… Gone…
This is a huge win for homeowners even though it will likely lead to some depression in pricing initially…
I’m not saying that agents aren’t useful and never have I’ve just been predicting for nearly 20 years that they would only be needed for very high-end and very low end transactions. Nothing in the middle… Let it begin! And no, we won’t lose jobs… They will just shift in nature.

It will allow technology to take some components of the market that should’ve been taken long ago but NAR had a hold on them. We are one of the last countries to use real estate agents with commissions on transactions rather than lawyers handling the transaction for a flat fee.
This is one of the biggest stories in my lifetime in real estate.
If you want to watch my old TV segments on this topic, check out YouTube… Plenty of them out there on the Internet!

Here's how much you could save if real estate commissions drop by 30%, as some experts are predicting after today's National Association of Realtors settlement.
