With severe freezing temperatures expected, it is critical to take precautions to protect your home and prevent burst pipes. Moving water is less likely to freeze, and a small drip relieves pressure that causes pipes to burst.

As the temperatures fall, please take these steps:

1. Drip Faucets: Let water drip from all faucets. Do not turn on full blast, but use a small drip to prevent excessive water usage.

2. Open Cabinets: Open all cabinet doors under sinks (kitchen and bathroom) to allow warm air to circulate around pipes.

3. Keep Heat On: Set your thermostat to a minimum of 60-65 degrees. Do NOT turn your heat off completely, even if you’re leaving for the day.

4. Disconnect Hoses: Disconnect and store any garden hoses and cover outdoor faucets.
