We say it all the time: "I know how you feel." We say it because we care. We say it because we want to comfort someone who is facing a challenge, a disappointment, or a major life change.
The truth is, though, we really don't know exactly how they feel. We can empathize. We can listen. We can try to understand. But until we walk in someone else's shoes, we can never fully appreciate the emotions they are experiencing.
After decades of helping buyers and sellers navigate one of life's biggest transitions, I am finding myself on the other side of the table. Selling my own home and searching for a new Home Sweet Home has reminded me just how emotional this journey can be.
