Wilton's fall festival is small and hands-on. Stratford's draws a crowd. Here's the difference, so you know which one to pick.

🍁 Fall Favorites, Part 2: Festivals

Ambler Farm Day in Wilton is the town's one big event of the year — hay maze, apple slingshot, build-your-own scarecrow, and hayrides. It's this Sunday, October 4th. Stratford's Great Pumpkin Festival is the bigger draw, with a pumpkin carving contest, costume parade, and one of the most beautiful historic properties around to wander. That one's Saturday, October 17th, with a rain date of the 18th — mark your calendar, it tends to get crowded.

Apple orchards don't ripen all at once — if you want a specific variety, call ahead before you go.

🍁 Fall Favorites, Part 1: Apple Picking

We've got two go-to spots. Silverman's Farm in Easton is the full experience — animal farm, tractor rides, and a pumpkin-weight guessing game where the odds are not in your favor (we've tried, we've failed). Blue Jay Orchards in Bethel is the move if you want fewer crowds and more orchard: 140 acres, 20+ apple varieties, and a much quieter vibe on weekdays.
