KR Events & Designs LLC will be opening up a new Niagara Falls event space to hold anything from parties to wedding receptions.

The wedding planning team behind KR Events, Keirstan and Keante Rodriguez from the Town of Niagara, will be holding a grand opening at 447 3rd Street at 5 p.m. today.

The Rodriguez’s get a lot of out-of-town clientele who want to get married near Niagara Falls, helping put on about 40 weddings a year. They get asked where nearby they can have a bridal shower, even having times where Keirstan’s friends and family asked her where they can do birthday parties and baby showers.

While other parts of Western New York are saturated with event spaces for rent, Niagara Falls does not have as many options.

“I thought to myself, ‘I wished I had a smaller venue to have a place for my clients,’” Rodriguez said. “My husband and I asked, ‘Why not open our place?’ ”

The two had to transform the entire interior, from repairing walls to adding sinks and water fountains due to city codes. There are also new light fixtures, tables and chairs, coolers and ice machines, preparation tables for food and a photo booth for entertainment purposes.

The site also has a newly created bridal suite for smaller weddings so the bridal party does not have to go offsite. A space across the street will be used for holding inventory.

“What I’m hoping for is to have at least one event every weekend,” Rodriguez said.

The project did receive a $25,000 minority and women business enterprise grant from the NFC Development Corp.

The ceremony, along with the Rodriguez’s, will have Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino, Director of Business Development Thomas Tedesco and TM Montante representatives.
