Real Simple Magazine asked their readers to answer the question “What Does Home Mean to You?” I absolutely loved the responses they got. Many readers said something about home being the place where they could be in their PJ’s, or cooking, or cooking in their PJ’s. It’s funny how we’ll spend hours, even years, tearing out pages of magazine’s (or now a days using Pinterest) dreaming up the “perfect”

home and in the end it doesn’t seem like that’s what really matters, what we’ll really remember. Don’t get me wrong, I’m as guilty as the next of wanting the shiny kitchen and big picture windows, but at 31 years of life and 19 homes I agree with those responses. Each house we’ve called home because we were together, as a family. Because we feel safe to be ourselves. Because we can cook breakfast, lunch and dinner and never get out of our PJ’s. Because the dust bunnies, and my kids, don’t care if I put off cleaning till tomorrow. A house provides shelter, warmth, protection, and a place to put our stuff, but a home - that’s where our heart is - where life is.
