September 13, 2026, is the annual Nicholson Bridge Day, presented by the Nicholson Women’s Club. The festival celebrates the historic viaduct with live music, 70+ vendors, basket raffles, food, a chicken barbecue, family fun, and so much more. 🚂

Need an Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania wood and water escape from the matrix? Check out my retirement project called Creekside Shire. Beautiful land that was once an ancient river bed, with a state stocked trout stream, Martins Creek, running through. Nearby, spanning the quaint village of Nicholson, is the world famous Tunkhannock viaduct, largest concrete railway bridge in the country. As 2 guests we have a tiny house or a vintage Airstream camper. As 4 guests, both are available. There’s only a few dates left in August still available…

Built a bridge across the small canal to reach Martins Creek at Creekside Shire

Following the noises down past the vintage Airstream, I walked through the gateway of the pole of power and the old wise apple tree. Once having crossed the way, a path into the woods, was made obvious with a magical archway of tree. Making the descent down to the troll bridge crossing the canal, I found the master troll at work putting the finishing touches on the bridge. Muddy wet he grumbled with a grin, “My old radio towers made for good bridge girders.” Nodding in agreement, I said, “Time for Lunch!” His grin evolved into a big smile.
