🍂 Fall & Winter Home Inspections: Look Beyond the Inside

During a recent inspection, we found a bowed basement wall that was associated with a drainage problem outside. The exterior grade was sloped toward the home, essentially funneling rainwater right toward the foundation. An uneven section of the walk also allowed water to sit against the block, contributing to ongoing moisture exposure and potential damage.

These are the kinds of issues that can be easy to overlook until they become much more expensive to address.

Fall is also a good time to look for gaps, openings, damaged screens, foundation cracks, soffit and fascia openings, and other potential entry points that mice and other critters can use to get into a home for the winter.
