Fannie Mae is forecasting mortgage rates to average around 6.3% through the end of 2026.

That matters because a lot of buyers have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for rates to fall before making a move.

But waiting has a cost.

If you're paying $1,800/month in rent, that's roughly $32,400 over the next 18 months that isn't building equity for you.

And if rates eventually do come down, many of the buyers who have been waiting could re-enter the market at the same time, creating more competition for the same homes.
