Trust... That's a BIG word in any service business, though a rarity when found in too many cases.
I thought I'd take the time to pass along some good news in the "Trust" arena here in North Fort Myers, Florida.
We have a lot of Air Conditioners and have had for several decades. ACs take maintenance through the years, and replacement all too often (from the Owner's perspective).
So we had a problem with a Commercial "double" unit - a 5-ton over 5-ton that is probably a decade old. It's a good brand, so nothing comes cheaply when parts go the way parts go. One morning a couple of weeks ago we had NO AC in July and It can't be good, since neither AC would fire up.
Nice work environment - CALL BAKERS Heating and Air Conditioning (our best buddies in the AC biz), they'll get it fixed up.
Result? Two compressors failed at once (one failed, the other followed suit).
Cost to replace the unit? Over $11,000. Two compressors? $6,500. What's an Owner to do, eh? Well, the fans were both replaced over the years and the rest seemed to work well.
Bite the bullet, order the compressors and live with portable ACs for a few days (they're "special", of course, like everything I choose!).
The day comes for installation and out come "the guys" with the new compressors. Up to the roof they go, we're cheering them on. Five minutes later, they come tell us MORE news (dreaded, right?).
They noticed a burnt wire and that one of the fans was running backwards. (Brace yourself, right?) NOPE - the fan is still under warranty, so that cost nothing to replace. They're going to fix the wiring, replace the fan, then start rechecking the unit(s).
Forty five minutes later, the AC(s) come on and we're thrilled.
The amazing part? The compressors weren't cooked AND WE DIDN'T NEED TWO NEW ONES.
Now, I'll ask anyone these questions:
1. Who else would have not just installed the new compressors and collected their BIG check for a job well done?
2. Who else would have checked to see if the expensive fan ($750 +/-) was still under warranty?
I didn't "keep an eye on them" because I know I don't have to worry about trust with these guys (ANY of them).
But I sure appreciate good, honest service.
Thanks, folks - it's always a pleasure, but this one was truly all ours.
