Spotted something cool while looking at this property! This honey bee hive has been in this old corn crib for years. It started inside the wall. This year, they’re building new comb in the open bay. The bees are busy filling the comb with honey and will then cap off each cell. They are amazing creatures.
In case you didn’t know, honey bees pollinate approximately one-third (33%) of the food Americans eat and 80% of U.S. grown crops. This includes about 75% to 95% of the country's fruits, nuts, and vegetables, which rely directly on managed honey bees for reproduction and crop yield. So, go plant some native wildflowers!

These folks do a great job of sustainable farming and ranching, and love educating others about using livestock to improve soil health and restore ecosystems. Give them a follow!

This portion of our pasture was winter camp in 2024/2025. It was a very wet spring and this area was bare when they left for spring cover crops. The recovery has been interesting to watch and these mullein plants are everywhere in the paddock. So not only is the mullein plant healing for humans…it’s what the soil needs and is using to heal itself!

Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is primarily used in traditional medicine to treat respiratory conditions, such as coughs, bronchitis, asthma, and sore throats, acting as an expectorant and sedative.

Its leaves and flowers are often consumed as tea, smoked to ease chest congestion, or infused into oils for earaches and skin inflammation.
