It is with an abundance of caution that we have decided not to open this weekend. With the snow and ice that is already present and the forecast for additional precipitation early Saturday morning, we have decided to air on the side of safety for our staff and customers. Worcester County public Schools have been closed all week as side roads are still a mess with the frigid temps. Our apologies to the Chesapeake Commodires Club and Yacht Clubs of Maryland who are convening at the Princess Royale over the weekend that we won’t be open for you. We will see everyone next weekend. Thank you for your understanding.🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩

PSA: On Monday, August 5th at 0600 hours, the speed cameras on Seahawk Road at Shore Break Lane and Flower Street at Seahawk Road will go live.

Since the activation of the original speed camera on Flower Street at Branch Street in May, we have had approximately 1000 violations.

As a reminder, the speed limit in all these zones is 25 MPH.

Happy Monday! Here are some Horseshoe Crab facts to brighten your week:

1) Though they may look menacing, Horseshoe Crabs lack the ability to bite, pinch, or sting!

2) Looks can be deceiving! Horseshoe crabs are not crabs, but a separate group with no close relatives.

3) Horseshoe crabs are critical to human healthcare! Injectable medicines, medical implants, and other devices are tested for bacterial contamination using a component of horseshoe crab blood.

4) Horseshoe crabs are a keystone species: thousands of horseshoe eggs are eaten by fish, birds, and invertebrates in the Delaware bay and ocean.

5) It is normal to see many dead horseshoe crabs on the beach this time of year, as the breeding season can be quite hard on older individuals.

6) If you encounter a live horseshoe crab stranded on its back, you can help it by gently holding it like a salad bowl and carrying it back to the water.

Next time you are out enjoying our beaches, be sure to stop and thank a Horseshoe Crab for its hard work protecting us and the ecosystem we live in!
