Restaurateurs: Let everyone know your status!

It's great to see so many posts about restaurants in Sarasota reopening, after . Especially on St. Armands, Lido, Siesta Key, and Longboat Key. The FPL Maps website shows about 1,850 outages remain in Sarasota County and about 2,400 in Manatee County.

Please be patient when you dine out. A lot of restaurants had to completely restock all food and may be missing some ingredients as they get up to speed.

Are you struggling a bit after these back to back hurricanes? Would you like some free dog food for your fur-babies to help you make it through the month? SPCA Florida has about 6 pallets of dog food (that's a lot!) to give away today, one day only. No restrictions on availability. Just come by and grab what you need from the end of the street in front of the Adoption Center. We just put it out and will update this post when it's all gone. What we put out will be unopened bags and cans of dog food but we cannot confirm the quality of the contents.

Hurricane Milton Update as of 10/7 2 pm: While Sarasota Memorial is planning for normal services & operations today, please note the following changes:

⚠️ All SMH Urgent Care Centers & Outpatient Centers plan to remain open during normal hours today and tomorrow but will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

⚠️ Non-emergent surgeries & procedures that may require an overnight stay at our hospitals will be canceled for Oct. 8 & Oct. 9. However, a limited number of same-day outpatient surgeries will still take place on Oct. 8. Patients are encouraged to reach out to their physician's office for updates regarding the status of their surgery or procedure.

⚠️ Most First Physicians Group offices will be open in the morning on Oct. 8, closing to patients at noon. The following offices will be closed all day on Oct. 8: Newtown Internal Medicine Practice, Venice Bypass, Black Burn Point, Venice Island Pediatrics and Sarasota General Plastics. All First Physicians Group offices will be closed on Oct. 9. Reopening updates will likely be shared on Thursday, Oct. 10.

⚠️ Sarasota Memorial's ER at North Port plans to remain open 24/7 this week.
